Fashion Week Update: Belstaff

Either I picked the right shows to work this season or I am very lucky because today was another stunner. Belstaff is a British brand that was founded in the 1920s. They made motorcycle jackets and other moto accoutrements. In 2011, a US entrepreneur bought the brand and, along with Chief Creative Office Martin Cooper, has completely transformed it into a cool luxe line with Kenneth Branaugh in the print ads.

The collection has lots of leather, army green, black, oxblood (formerly known as burgundy) and fur. See a trend for fall? The brand is so cool that I’d love to hang out with anyone who wears it! I love the chainmail inspired dress and vest (King Arthur chic! Who knew that could be a thing?) and the pleated leather mini skirt. I also love the cuffs sticking outside the boots. I started wearing that look this winter and it was great to see it in the show too.

The layers were key to the looks. There were collared shirts under dresses under sweaters and collared shirts under dickies (yup, not kidding) under military jackets. There was a whole lot going on with each look, and it all worked really well together.

Martin Cooper, the designer, said he wanted the collection to reflect a relaxed luxury. Done!
