Plaid is back! After staying away from conservative plaid in the 80s and grunge plaid in the 90s, I’m loving the sleek and chic plaid incarnation this time around. I found 7 totally hip plaid pieces that are really versatile. Not sure how to make a complete outfit that will look modern and flatter your figure? Here are some tips…
- Create a cool look with plaid by juxtaposing it with something unexpected: a plaid shirt and leather jeans, a plaid skirt and moto boots, plaid pants and a lace blouse.
- Remember that plaid will draw the eye, so wear it on a part of your body you want to draw attention to. If you want to distract from wide hips, go for dark pants and a plaid shirt. If you want to draw the eye away from a large chest, go for plaid skinny jeans and a dark sweater.
- Don’t mix other patterns with plaid or you’ll look like a Ralph Lauren Home ad from the 90s

Love everything! Are plaid pants o.k. for a petite figure?
Hi Penny, As long as the scale of the pattern isn’t too big, plaid pants are fine for a petite figure
