Viktor Luna, a finalist on last season’s Project Runway showed his spring 2013 collection at Fashion Week. Judging by this collection, Viktor is clearly a winner, whether or not he won on the TV show. Viktor said that he wanted the Viktor Luna woman to be sophisticated, youthful and elegant this season. His inspiration was his Latin background and, as he says, “translating it to the world in the best way I can!” He played with luxe textures and Swarovski crystals, and they really stand out. The collection is classic with a modern twist. There is a definite Audrey Hepburn or Grace Kelly feel to many of the looks, but some are very edgy too. I love the collection and am already picking out the pieces I want! Here are some of my favorite looks and some photos from his presentation. Photographs by Lendon Flanagan.
Fashion fact: there is difference between a presentation and a runway show. A presentation is when the models stand in place to show the looks, and attendees walk around. People can get closer to the clothing to see the quality of the pieces. A runway show has assigned seating and each look is shown by the model when she walks down the runway. A presentation can last an hour; a runway show lasts about 10 minutes.
Hope you enjoyed this look at Viktor’s collection. I did!
